Sabita Murthy

My work is an ongoing conversation between emotion, memory, and the natural world. Painting in acrylics and oils, I explore the quiet strength and complexity of human values and emotions, particularly women’s inner lives through symbolic landscapes, florals, and atmospheric colour. Each piece becomes a meditation — a way of translating lived experience into imagery that feels both intimate and universal.

Growing up in Bengal, India and later building a life in Canada, I carry multiple cultural lenses. Nature has always been a grounding force, and it appears throughout my work as metaphor: roses that hold unspoken resilience,
lakes that mirror emotional depth, skies that echo longing and renewal, mountains and waterfalls that voice power and strength. These forms allow me to express the unspoken narratives of identity, womanhood, and the inner voice.

My palette often leans toward softness and luminosity, inviting viewers into spaces of calm reflection. Even when exploring themes of struggle or transformation, my work centres tenderness — the quiet courage that lives beneath the surface of everyday life.

Ultimately, my paintings are invitations: to pause, to feel, to remember, and to honour the inner landscapes that define who we are.
