WHAT REMAINS UNSAID
Cell Gallery Reception: Thursday 26 November at 6:30 p.m.
Mary Evs is a Toronto-based, self-taught visual artist working primarily in oil painting. Her practice is rooted in the exploration of human emotions through self-reflection, personal experiences, and the complexities of being human.
What Remains Unsaid explores the feelings that exist beyond language — grief, longing, uncertainty, and the quiet weight of life’s choices. Feelings that settle somewhere in the chest, taking shape long before we find the words to describe them.
Through expressive figurative painting, Evs uses colour, gesture, and the human gaze to give form to these invisible experiences. Her work moves between vulnerability and tension, inviting viewers to recognize fragments of their own emotional lives within each painting.
Rather than offering answers, What Remains Unsaid creates space for everything we feel but cannot always explain.
