Moving Forward showcases three contemporary artists reflecting on themes of regeneration and the merging of selves through the body and its abstracted forms.
As physical materials are imprinted upon and made to reflect the body in its shifting states, we see connections between melding entities and the integration of material textures as mirrors of the self. As a site of perpetual shift, the bodily figure and its representations constantly mimic our understanding of the self as rooted in reality, as something that is tangibly recognizable, and as a form that is instinctual.
Perhaps it is worth considering that these abstracted shapes could simply be reconstructed bodies, those that have yet to be claimed by the self, unrecognizable, and in constant displacement.
