Life, A Celebration!  Works by Marie Finkelstein _ Oct. 15-26 , 2025 _

This exhibition of drawings and paintings is a celebration of life. Seascapes revel in a symphony of colour and light, while portraits explore the poignancy of life’s transitions and enduring family ties. Working from a box of old snapshots, I selected images that mark meaningful stages of my life from infancy, childhood, and adolescence to becoming a woman in love, wife, mother, and grandmother. Portraits of my grandchildren embody a renewed focus on hope and joy, reflecting the innocence and promise of the children I love. Through this work, I search across time for the essence of myself, navigating the present while embracing the future.

My work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Toronto, Whitby,Ottawa, and Niagara on the Lake, including Paul Petro Special Projects Space and Gallery 1313. Highlights include the Kingston Portrait Prize Competition (finalist, 2005),Star Portraits on Bravo! (2009), and a 2011 commission for Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto.
