THE I PROJECT – Poems and Sculptures –

The I project is inspired by an edict within Rasta Fari Culture, which states “first one must know oneself.” The socialization within Rasta culture teaches that one comes to knowledge of the self only in relation to others. In the articulation of that edict, arose the concept of I, and in extension to community I&I. In this vein I have conceived the sculptural project I. Translating the letter I as a three-dimensional object, I created a series of sculptural fonts that embody subjects and issues common to I&I. The pieces were developed as painted sculptures blurring boundaries of disciplines in this marriage of forms.
