Alex Shifrin – Talking Pictures II – April 16-20-Main Gallery –

Reception April 17, 6:30pm

A follow up to Alex Shifrin’s 2017 Toronto show “Talking Pictures”, Talking Pictures II is a collection of work that explores neurodiversity and creativity. The collection features work that is a collaboration with Alex’s older son Greg, who is non-verbal, and who has a flair for alphanumeric patterns as a form of communication. Greg leaves patterns across the house, often on bedsheets and other linen, which act as inspiration for a form of conversation on canvas. Pieces on display are large format, measuring the full length of queen-sized linen or whatever else Greg was able to get his hands on.

Alex Shifrin, a Toronto native, spent 16 years living and working abroad, returning to Toronto in 2015. Alex was first recognized as an up-and-coming Eastern Europe-based postmodern artist by publications including Cosmopolitan, InStyle, Elle, Marie Clair and The Financial Times.
