Most of us do not belong to the land we are currently on. The identity of an immigrant is increasingly being threatened under America’s racist regimes, and the diaspora within Canada have not been able to escape the effects of these discriminating policies. But immigration will always be a significant part of our lives—whether we’ve experienced the act of immigrating, or that we’re where we are now because older generations have immigrated. It is an art that many of us are constantly experiencing: the exploration of something new and the reconnection to where we originated from. This exhibition features eight immigrant and diasporic artists, using various mediums to map out their distinctive, yet unifying identities.
Participating artists include Ante Benedikt Kurilić, Ellie Corfield, Jodi Nyawa, Chimemelie Okafor, Osimhe Paul, Alberto Castillo, Daniel Han & Faezah Faruqui.
