Cindy Y. Lam – West Coast on My Mind – June 23 – July 11

Cell Gallery: 23June to 11July, 2021

When it dawned on me at the beginning of 2020 that it might be a while before I could travel to Canada’s West Coast, I felt a deep longing for the Pacific Ocean along the edges of Vancouver Island.  The only way to alleviate this yearning was to paint it.

Imagine, balancing on giant slippery boulders on the shore, soaking up the sounds of crashing waves while looking out into the far horizon filled with countless shades of blue and dancing clouds, then squealing in delight as ice-cold water jumps onto your skin leaving you with the taste of the salty mist. Perhaps if you close your eyes, you may even hear the distance howl of the elusive Coastal Sea Wolf.

I hope my contemporary seascapes give viewers a little taste of the magnificent Pacific Ocean.
