I am an experimental expressionist painter, having completed series of acrylic paintings revealing the moods and energies of water – waterfalls, tsunamis and recently, White Water Rapids, in which I applied many layers of colours of paint, both thick and thin, building up ridges and suggesting the froth of the rapids.

Joseph Kennel

  • “Pier Park”
  • Silver Halide Print
  • 11″ x 14″
  • $70

Between Richmond and Vancouver, BC the mouth of the Fraser river flows overlooked as merely an industrial landscape. These images plot a collision course between the river’s natural environment and human architecture. The river is constantly breaking down these elements into itself showing how water, oxygen and dirt run through everything.

Kerry Brownell

  • “Memories Coffee Klatsch”
  • 2019
  • acrylic on canvas
  • 28″ x 22″
  • $295

Kerry Brownell is a Toronto artist born and raised in Montreal, graduated from Dawson College’s Commercial Art program and has been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Studied visual arts at UWO and currently a 4th year painting major in York University’s BFA (Hons) program. During this period of new “normal” memories and a longing for connection are explored through a shift in the artist’s painting subject-matter. Familiar everyday objects take on a new and deeper meaning. Coffee cups are not just a still-life; they symbolize lost gatherings and distanced conversations. The use of an unusual perspective encourages the viewer to engage in a more intimate association with the work, allowing them to reflect on their memories and know that these moments will come back again soon.

Catharine Somerville

  • “A Pharaohs Dream #1”
  • Acrylic on board
  • 8″ x 8″
  • $175

With each painting I enter a metaphysical world. I consider what beauty and spirit are during different times, thereby opening a path for my work to explore. I take notes from cultural, political and religious sources to inform my work.

  • “A Pharaohs Dream #2”
  • Acrylic on board
  • 8″ x 8″
  • $175

My work fluctuates.
Shifts and changes may be thought by some to be drastic, even capricious. One thing though is that looking behind the appearance of the work, the exploration and passion remain constant.
I hope to capture the awe and energy of what it feels like to be fully present by collapsing time into a moment.

Elizabeth Greisman – Paintings from the making of the Livre Du Cuisine, “A Food Sorcerer Creates: “Sensual Epicurian Delights from the Botanical Gardens”

I created the illustrated livre du cuisine in Marnay sur Seine, France, inspired by the lovely and meditative Botanical Gardens contained within the vista of the community. These paintings are from the collection of oil paintings created for illustrating the cookbook.

The book is devoted to the recipes to the concept of wellness and balance but also joie du vivre. Shared meals build community.

  • “A Piece of Memory 2”
  • Oil on Canvas
  • 11″ x 14″

This drawing shows space that is located in the inner mind. Since I was young, I felt insecure and stressed from dissatisfaction of not having my own space at home. I decided to express my own space as a high sky on the canvas, so no one can approach or see my emotional expression. This shows how people want their personal space from the heart .
