Neil Joseph Polson – Boundary Markings – Nov 20 – Dec 1

The working process for these paintings evolved by using a juxtaposition of imagery from straight forward depiction to the more hopefully oblique and expressionistic. The theme revolves around the idea of animal symbology Working intuitively, I allow the unknown guide the paintings.

Animals remain powerful symbols in all cultures. Pagan symbolism has been adopted by religious institutions, for instance the stag as a symbol of the forest with spiritual meaning. Animals don’t observe human-made borderlines. In the past, they were thought of as guides or totem animals going back to cave paintings.
