“What is t.ruth?” is an exhibit by Ruth Hartman, visual artist and member of Gallery 1313. The question is explored in the Cell Gallery through a selection of past and present drawings, paintings and photographs.
Since coming to Toronto to study art, Hartman has sought the meaning of truth and observed its many contradictions in her life and in her practice of art and law.
In 2019, when art is a brand and commodified, when lives are polled, trolled, monitored and mined for profit or political power, and algorithms can corrupt any search, what is truth?
