Like Spectres

Going back through these works (some of which go back more than a few years), there emerges a common theme of a somewhat dark surrealism. People may see menace or a foreboding in a few of the paintings. There is also some humour to be found if one chooses to see it. Most of these works are not what I would pursue making today. Like Spectres is a way for me to close this phase of work. Certain resource material used such as old photographs led me through a spontaneous process of connecting images together. It was exciting to see something unexpected happen in the work. These pieces were also very far removed from my day to day life, the imagery arrived on their own for the most part. This revisit has allowed me to review older work in context with newer work.
