Satirenalia.
Rachel Parry; Pop Surrealism
Rachel’s work embodies a wide array of subjects and styles, but all centre around surrealism and pop culture. She derives inspiration from everywhere. Sometimes her stimulus is visual, such as an animal or insect in an anthropomorphic pose, begging to be placed into a human situation. Sometimes she is inspired by misheard song lyrics, or visual pun ideas, juxtaposing odd ideas onto canvas. Sometimes Her stimulus is to satirize political strife in the world. She also creates series projects for herself, such as the pop culture modernization of classic paintings in her Old Remaster series. Rachel is almost never short of inspiration, and so remains very busy with a paint brush in hand.
Ultimately, Rachel’s goal is to unveil the absurdities of life, humanity, and everything-to apply levity, to inspire positive change.
