Artist Statement:
I paint because, beyond the joy of pushing the paint around on the canvas, it helps me to better understand the world inside and outside of me.
I am very fascinated with the universe, from its incredible richness and complexity as a whole, to the workings of the minute details expressed in quantum mechanics.
When I paint I always listen to music. It helps me to let my conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings freely interplay, and often the music itself gives me inspiration.
For me, painting is a simultaneous doing and undoing. The paint has the double ability to reveal and conceal, summon and refuse, navigate between suggestion and concept, and chronicle allusion and illusion.
The finished paintings are full of emotional impulses and musical beats.
