As The Sun Goes Down At The Cell Gallery

For the past couple of years my theme has revolved around the setting sun, twilight and late night. Using photography as one element I blend the precision of photography with the unpredictability and fluidity of paint. This body of work represents my progression in experimentation with this blending of these two media on canvas.
Initially, I worked exclusively with photography, combining multiple components into one cohesive piece. Once comfortable with that process I introduced acrylic onto the printed canvas. These paintings represent the next step in my evolution.
This artwork not only blends acrylic with photography but also two different types of canvases. I shoot and painted the first portion of the painting on location while camping. This part was exploration of my feeling of that particular moment painted on canvases which I prepared on site. Later on these canvases are blended at my studio with the photographs to create one cohesive piece.
