Roadwork: Photography by Brian Deignan
Cell Gallery, August 6-17
Reception August 7th
Like many, some might say too many, Canadians I primarily encounter the Canadian landscape from a car whindow/windshield. Although, in truth, this mode does have strong historical precedents.
All our ancestors passed through the landscape as well as living within it. Over time the conveyance would have been horse, cart, wagon, train, bus and family automobiles. Thus I have chosen to view and photograph our lanscape from the most common, contemporary perspective and have often decided to inculde part of the automobile in some images both as framing device and as a context for a particular perspective.
