Collective Memories: July 23 – August 3, 2014

Lois Schklar’s art practice consists of an ongoing series of installations that employ three-dimensional elements yet are viewed and considered as drawings. Each “drawing in space”builds on the ideas of preceding installations and is primarily site specific. This process encourages a sense of play, being in the moment and a non-linear approach to documentation, an important aspect in all my work.

In Collective Memories , Lois has constructed a site specific installation for Gallery 1313 (1313A Queen Street West). Terrill Maguire (Dancer/Choreographer ), Rick Sacks (sound designer) and April Gorday (Lighting Designer) are the collaborators in this project. The work in progress is the result of an Ontario Arts Council Multi and Integrated Art Grant.
