In playing with, and subverting traditional femininity, the photographs in Lessons in Worship, foster and document unmediated femme subjectivities. This body of work responds directly to maintenance of hetero-patricharcal systems and the regulation of sexual hierarchies in urban spaces— simultaneously locating its problematics and resistance. Lessons in Worship imagines how normative expectations of sexuality can become both a site of survival and be appropriated into forms of empowerment.
