Jamie Pasquale (b. 1988) is a professional artist of British, Ghanian and Italian descent born in England now living in Toronto, Canada. He was initially drawn to Art around the age of ten through skateboarding and graffiti art, two early passions that he pursued for over a decade. His body of work explores themes of self identity, memory, culture, folklore and spirituality expressed by means of non objective abstract representation that is sometimes gestural but often minimalist in form. He is predominantly a painter but also tends to create in other mediums such as sculpture, photography and printmaking bringing together an oeuvre that is influenced by Artists ranging from Rothko, Mitchell, Martin, Judd and Hesse. Through his art he hopes to become a beacon for other BIPOC Artists while engaging discussion around race and representation in the art world.
