Grace Dam – Portraits of Longing – March 15 – 26

Grace Dam paints landscape, abstract, still life but her love for figurative art brought about a large body of portraiture. On these walls is a part of this collection.  Dam’s artworks explore that fleeting moment from a gesture or an angle that captured her attention and inspired her to immortalize them on canvas. Her portraits focus on the humanity, enigmatic characters of the subjects. Through her interpretation and brushstrokes, young or old, friends or complete strangers, her narrative is expressed quietly and subtly.  Even when the subject’s gaze is directed at the viewer, it informs without revealing all the mystery about them. Her style might evolve, her goal remains constant and solid.  Figurative art is best delivered in portraiture.
