Sterling Presence is an exhibition curated by the Silver Water Collective, spanning themes of history, memory, identity, time, and perception. Each artist represented engages her work with a unique process and technique challenging the confines of traditional photography. Though each artist comes from a different background and mindset, the process of photography allows them to outwardly manifest their collective internal struggles as women in modern society.
The Silver Water Collective is a group of ten female photographers who have united to occupy their space in the world of contemporary photography. They met during the pandemic while attending online classes in the MFA Photography program at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. Together, their work spans a variety of material and photographic processes, yet finds commonality as it cross-references among themes making their collective work a powerhouse of process-based contemporary art.
