Eric Garsonnin – The Beacon – March 16 – 27

Cell Gallery

THE BEACON Artist Eric Garsonnin’s photographic study takes us on an urban journey around Canada Life’s weather beacon. The building opened in 1931 with a height of 321 ft., including the weather beacon once dominated Toronto’s skyline in the University Ave and Queen St. West area and for years told people what weather conditions were. In a time where we today look at your mobile phone for weather it might seem as a relic from another time. This photographic series shows us that indeed the 17 storey tower is still in our sightlines from many view points . People may not depend on the Beacon for the current weather but it is still playing a role in our urban life and reminder of bygone times of another era.
