“The Land of The Morning Calm,” comes from a well-known nickname for Korea. These paintings are inspired by memories of living in South Korea. During my time there I was awed by the beauty of the surrounding mountains, and dazzled by the dense urban environment of Seoul, where streets at night transformed into rivers of neon light. This feast for the senses made a vivid impression on me. Using photos that I took in Korea as their starting point, these pieces are influenced by the impressions made on me when I was there.
