The Predella reimagines the lower panels of traditional altarpieces as spaces of contemporary revelation. Historically, the predella served as an epilogue—narrative fragments unfolding beneath the sacred image, where miracles broke the boundaries of nature and the dead returned to life.
In this exhibition, that space of devotion and storytelling becomes a site of artistic freedom and tension. Within confined frames, color and gesture strike with immediacy; moments collide, merge, and transform. The works evoke the intensity of the past while confronting the fluid, questioning spirit of the present—where tradition, belief, and identity are continuously re-examined.
The Predella seeks to resurrect that energy—revealing how, even in the smallest space, imagination can expand beyond its borders. In this series, Damianos draws on this historical form to create a contemporary dialogue—one that resonates with today’s world, where traditions and societal norms continue to be questioned and reimagined.
