Residing in Toronto, Ontario, Lillian Chow continues to take part in group exhibitions and publications. A Canadian artist, Lillian Chow’s work reveals the complexities of acrylic paints on canvas, enabling the infusion of imagery with a vibrancy and liveliness that captures the eye and excites the emotions. Drawing on her university education in psychology and a desire to understand the dynamics of society and civilization, she uses symbolism to communicate her emotions and thought process. Through mental visualization, she is inspired through the nature of things that assist her to solidify concepts and physically apply these ideas to her palette. Today, she continues to perfect her technique and abilities to mold her works into an identifiable form that can be recognizable and distinct. Often experimenting with concepts, techniques and subject matter.
In her exhibition, “State of Mind”, figurative images are representative. Developed within the last two years, Lillian attempts to reveal to her audience humanities complex feelings and emotions. The images reflect over lost moments, resilience towards the future or pressing pause on the fast-paced world we live in. The acrylic paintings often include aspects of nature, representing the environment and its importance in the effects on our state of mind and how we act, feel and interact within our social landscape.
